Three for Thursday – Triplets Update

On Thursdays I post updates on how my baby triplets are doing.  Owen, Noah and Bella thank you for reading…

Owen Being Bottle Fed

Owen Being Bottle Fed

Owen, my man.  He's made tremendous progress in the last few days.  Yesterday was the first day that he was bottle fed.  Twice a day, for a few minutes we try to get him used to getting his food from the bottle.  Let's just say that, he'll take some getting used to it.  I held him with the bottle for about ten minutes and he took about a dozen half-hearted sucks at it.  Unfortunately, the milk made it down the wrong pipe and so he had to be coaxed to cough it up.  But hey, it's another milestone.
Nikki had spent most of the day with them and I came up a bit later to find that they moved Owen out of the isolette and INTO A CRIB!
The nurses didn't tell Nikki they were going to do that so when I walked in and saw the crib in the corner, I thought they had moved my baby.  A pleasant surprise when I walked over to see his beautiful face.  He's at 4lbs even tonight.

Noah is now over his incident with NEC and they are trying to feed him again, but he's having a tough time digesting it.  Still growing, though, at 4lbs 14oz.

He's big, he's beautiful and I just want to take him home.  They talked of putting him in a crib too, but apparently there is a shortage of them in the NICU right now.  Too many parents having triplets, I guess.

Bella Marie, my wide-eyed darling, continues to grow too.  She's at 3lbs 5oz.  She is having some issues breathing again, due to congestion, and so they have an odd-shaped clear plastic tent over her head with some humidity-controlled air being pumped in.  She's registers as fully-saturated with oxygen but when we held her last night she really labored with her breathing.
All in all, everyone's doing very well right now.  They are officially eight weeks old today, but still only 35 weeks gestation.  Still no sign as to when we will bring them home, but all we can ask is that they keep getting better.
- Warm Regards,
Papa Charley
