Concise Advice – Taking Action on Your Goals
Author Barbara Sher of Wishcraft fame has a surprisingly simple and effective exercise for taking action on your goals. This is assuming that you have your some goals in place. I must admit, I was tempted to ignore it when I first read it, but I’ve used a similar technique for speed-cleaning and decluttering areas of my home.
Because making change causes tension and anxiety, and your Subconscious mind is a bit of a lazy, persnickety lout who doesn’t like change, this two step technique will put you into action before the little voice in your head can even put up a protest.
First, vow to take action towards achieving your goal right now.
Second, you only have an hour to spend on it. That means setting the timer RIGHT NOW and getting started on some tasks related to your goal. Once the timer goes off, you’re done, no if’s, and’s or but’s.
What can be done in an hour? Making some phone calls, doing some internet research, ordering some books based on the subject of your goals, heck writing a post for a blog, if you want to be a blogger.
By doing this, you’re telling your subconscious mind that you are in charge, and it better stop the negative talk and fall in line. This train is moving forward with or without it.
