Haiku Life Lessons – How to be a Genius in Multiple Disciplines
Formerly Concise Advice, I have now changed these shorter articles to Haiku Life Lessons, named after the short and poignant Japanese poetic structure.
I've been quite inspired by the life and work of Walter Russell, as mentioned in my post, The Man Who Tapped the Secrets of the Universe.
A particular passage that I omitted previously I have put to the test in the last few days. Russell believed that the mind (and, as a result, the body), despite great enthusiasm, usually fatigues after two hours of working on the same task. Russell, as a consequence, used to break up his day into two hour blocks to work on creative pursuits in different disciplines.
I've used this in the last few days, in shorter one hour blocks to work on Songwriting, Blogging, and Poetry, with tremendous results. Had I more free time, I would try this out in two hour blocks. In any event, my output is terrific and I feel energized as I work on each discipline. I finished three poems in the poetry block, two new riffs for songs with some scattered words for the verses, and three outlines for future blog posts.
Russell was correct, love for one's work is the mark of genius and enthusiasm is the fountain of youth.
