Charley's Eleven Commandments
Inspired by the concept of the Bible’s Ten Commandments and my earlier Great Expectations Manifesto for my children, I thought that I would spend some time in meditation and come up with my own commandments list. With complete reverence to the Bible version, I put together eleven sacred principles that I hope will guide my actions in my life.
I think this is a great process for anyone to go through for themselves and you may find, as I have, that some of them change over time. Also, I don’t mean the list to be comprehensive, but they are definitely solid principles to live by.
Charley’s Eleven Commandments
- We are all One
- Live simply so that others may simply live
- Learn the lesson, then let go of the past
- Action, not reaction
- Slow and steady wins the race
- Deeds, not Words
- Embrace your Emotions
- Be Love and Creativity
- Foundations are the key to Strength
- Those who persevere are rewarded
- Share your gifts with the World
What would your commandments list look like?

Well done! Your 11 Commandments are true…each and every one of them. Your spiritual & philosophical journey is a lifetime search…as it has been for me. Sometimes a long lonely road, sometimes a wonderful road. Good luck. It's worth it.

Yes I suppose that's why we're here right? It's the journey that is important as well as how many people you've touched along the way. Enlightenment is not so much a destination as an ideal and I don't much care that I will ever attain it, as long as I learn some great lessons and meet some great people along the way.
